Never use them! Contractors are incompetent plus when I asked for the HVAC new unit install quite they inflated price by 2-3k then I asked itemized breakdown and no response. You will get robbed if you use them

Repair people were great. Professional, competent and got the job done. However the inspection people are less admirable. If you are using this company for inspection prior to a sale and you are the seller, they are great. They will only charge you ca. $300 to say that the system works, assuming it does at that point in time. However, they will NOT report EXTENSIVE corrosion on the motherboard that will require the next owner to replace the board six weeks later. Apparently, opening the unit is not part of the inspection. Just flipping the switch to find it turns on is sufficient. If you are the seller, this is a great service. But otherwise, beware.

Update from the response: 1). I wish it was true that ONLY compressor was charged. I got a call yesterday asking me for money for diagnostics, which again, did not result in any solutions to our problem. 2). Because of the delay, we now have to spend thousands of dollars fixing the wall since the water damage lasted for so long. 3). Again - I understand the communication difficulty as we were working with a management company; however, there has never been a single time they were not able to reach me to discuss an invoice.

I don't usually write reviews. But this has been the experience of a life time for us, in a bad way. We first reached out to them way back in June when our AC wasn't functioning properly. They went in to diagnose it and told us we need to get a new compressor. We spent a few thousand dollars on a brand new compressor from them. The problem wasn't fixed.

It seemed as though they knew what the problem was, but didn't have the manpower or the resources to actually fix the problem. Communication from them was also scarce, to say the least. I did not receive a single phone call with updates. Each time I try to get an update, I had to call them. Now, we are using a property management company, so I know there were some communication between CHF and the management company. However, I had explicitly said that I am the only person they should be communicating with.

They said they put a note in my file for that, still zero communication. A couple of weeks ago, I practically BEGGED them to go in and do another diagnostic because it's over 90 degrees and the AC was not working for months, they said they would go in the next day and, you guessed it, nada. They said they will call ME after they find out what's going on and update ME, but nothing happened.

We ended up going with a different company who was able to fix the problem within a day or two. I am sure CHF is capable and they know what they are doing; however, personally, I had a bad experience with them. ps. When I spoke to CHF about the frustration I had with them, they said they were confused as to if they should be calling me or the management company; HOWEVER, they had no problem reaching me or updating me when an invoice needs to be paid. So clearly that's not necessarily true.

Chris, the engineer, was great. He replaced a broken hot water heater that had leaked thru my ceiling. It's in a lofted space in a fourth floor walk-up, so definitely not an easy job. He was nice, knowledgeable and thorough. This one star is for him and him only. Getting him there was another story. After he came out for the initial estimate and said he'd back 2 days later to replace the hot water heater, the issue got worse.

There was water literally pouring thru my ceiling and causing major damage. When I called the next morning after leaving several messages, I desperately pleaded for someone to come that day before the damage got even worse and affected my neighbors' units. The response I got was, "Yeah, not going to happen" from a dude with major attitude. I had to have a male call on my behalf for them to take my request seriously. but luckily Chris came out later that afternoon.

Since that time (going on 4 weeks now) I've been waiting for work to be done to repair the water damage to the walls and ceiling (which of course must be done before I can get it painted). I received a reasonable estimate and have basically been strung along ever since. Every week, they tell me the work will happen another day. Was supposed to be 2 weeks ago, then last Monday, Thursday, then Friday.

No phone call or response unless I contact them. I understand it's peak season and there are customers who have urgent issues, but I have been more than patient and understanding of a hectic summer season. It's the lack of communication and follow-up that just boggles my mind. Be honest and say you can't do the job up front, or give an accurate estimate on how long it will actually take to get on the schedule.

I would have looked elsewhere much sooner had I known. Literally never have experienced service like this in my life! It's really almost comical to think a company can be run like this.

I was purchasing a house. After the inspection I had worked out with the sellers that they would agree to fix the HVAC system. They called this company. The company quoted quite a lower price than the home inspector said it would be to fix the system. I ended up splitting the bill with the seller and called the company to get more information on what had been done and see if I could work more with them in the future.

They were nice enough but after moving in, I installed a new thermostat and the system was running cold when on heat. I called the company again since they had worked on the system only a few weeks prior. I told them the situation and asked if there was any way it could be resolved over the phone. If perhaps it was something with the thermostat. The person on the phone insisted that it was a transformer that blew and said I was out of their service area.

If that's so, I was confused as to why they had worked on the system for the previous owners. It was weird. They said they'd come out but if it was a transformer that blew, they'd have to charge me. Other than that, they had made it seem clear that they were doing a follow up on the work they had already done. No mention of payment and what I thought was reassurance that they'd just be checking their work.

After all, if it could have been solved over the phone, they said they would have but insisted it was a transformer. The person came. No transformer had blown. He did a visual inspection of my system then looked at the settings on my thermostat. He said it was just one setting that needed to be changed. Definitely something that could have been done on the phone.

They sent me a bill for $135. I was confused because they had said it was just a follow up appointment. There is just something shady about the whole thing. In addition to that, since they came to do that follow up, the system has continued to have issues so I called in another company. That company actually took the time to show me everything and explain everything with complete transparency.

There was a hole in the ductwork they had done when the sellers had commissioned them for repairs. They had jury-rigged the coiling and it was really low on refrigerant. The other company said that it was too late in the season to refill it and would be best done in more dry, less frigid weather. All of this should have been taken care of by CHF. It wasn't.

They do spotty work and I can't help but think the only reason they worked on my system in the first place was because the previous owners had a friend or something working there. If I was outside of their service area, instead of lying to me and using deceptive speech and business practices to charge me extra, what a good and honest company might have done is told me that it would be better to find a company in my area. TLDR; These people are only in it for the money, they'll fleece you if they can and they'll do sub-par work while charging you top dollar.

Great experience all around. They came highly recommended and the whole process was great. They emailed me a ballpark price and then came out to do an actual price estimate and then came out and finished my whole AC replacement in one day. The process was fast, all the employees were nice people, and the price was right.

During the hottest week of the year, the A/C died. Here's the story of my week-long clown show with CHF. (Based on actual events, just like in the movies!) * WEDNESDAY, July 17. CHF is not our first choice. My A/C problem has already been diagnosed by another vendor and my landlady has a quote for a new unit. But CHF apparently has a contract with the condo association to handle A/C for the building overall, so she calls them to get a second quote.

They are supposed to arrive first thing in the morning. In reality, CHF rolls in around 10:15. Not a promising start. When the quote comes, it's higher than the first vendor. We decide not to use CHF. * THURSDAY, July 18. Unfortunately, the first vendor is now booked up for the week, so we're stuck with CHF. They promise the landlady they will be out to install a brand new A/C unit first thing on Friday morning. * FRIDAY, July 19.

I take the day off work and sit in a puddle of my own sweat until noon, but CHF doesn't show. I finally call. "We never said we were coming today. We aren't coming today." Later they make a new promise to the landlady: they will arrive first thing Monday. We're beginning to think that "first thing" means something different to CHF than it does to regular people. * MONDAY morning July 22.

I take yet another vacation day to sit in a sweltering apartment waiting for CFH. True to form, they don't show. My landlady, the niceset person in the world, calls me and unleashes a string of f-bombs about them. No one seems able to tell her if they are coming and when, so I sit and wait. And wait. At noon I call and am informed that they never meant that they would be there "first thing, " but they may show up within 90 minutes "if everything goes according to plan." * MONDAY afternoon, July 22.

A CHF tech arrives--but without the replacement A/C unit. He tells me he is just there to disassemble, the replacement unit will arrive "soon." I literally text a friend: "If these geniuses show up with the wrong A/C unit, I am going to stab them to death with a salad fork." A couple hours later I find him at the utility closet with another CHF tech.

They seem genuinely mystified. "We measured the width AND the height" he says (he seems very proud to have remembered two of the three dimensions that define the physical world) "but the new unit won't fit." CHF apparently doesn't realize that A/C units are three-dimensional. I wish I were making this up. To sum up: CHF VISITED THE SITE, THEY MEASURED THE CLOSET, THEY WORK REGULARLY IN THE BUILDING where all the apartments are the same, AND THEY STILL MANAGED TO ARRIVE LATE AND WITH THE WRONG REPLACEMENT UNIT. * TUESDAY, July 23.

The heatwave has now broken. It's gone from 104 to 70 degrees outside -- just in time for CHF to show up with the correct A/C unit. I have endured a full week of record-breaking temperatures, during which I have taken two vacation days to sit and sweat and wait for CHF to not show up. In the end, they do a clean install without too much trouble, but I sure as fuck will never call them again. --- TO SUM UP: * More expensive * Consistently late * Brought an A/C unit that didn't fit, despite the fact that they themselves measured for it. * No apology

Usually don't leave any review bad or otherwise. Just my experience, but the technicians are friendly but will rip you off if you don't get a price before hand. You could see he came up with number on the spot. Later checked and was well beyond what the task he said he performed cost. Also, latest time using them when the AC was out, they showed up day after they said with no real call and the tech was good enough guy but he definitely fixed a problem knowing it wasn't going to do anything and I needed a whole new machine. 500$ down the drain. Take the warning, if you don't know much about Hvac call someone else and get costs ahead of time.

Air conditioning wasn't working after several very hot days in early July. I called CHF and when they heard my air was completely out, they sent a technician over later in the day. The technician quickly fixed the problems on both of my air conditioning units and had them up and running in 20-30 minutes. While he was here on the job, he was courteous and took care to keep my home clean while he worked. An excellent job!

Thanks to the CHF guys for bringing that rare component of common sense. A pair of CHF pros showed up after three sequential "Also-Rans" could not cure my gas furnace of its Tourette's-syndrome-wacky-behavior. A reasonably short time later, it was running smooth as butter - and the thermostat was running accurately. Top marks kids!

Long story short, they came the first day and ban-aid my unit to work. twice. they did come on two different service calls within two months of each other. Was told on the 1st service call that all the unit needed was the coils to be cleaned and that the levels of freon was right on the money as to where they needed to be. Today they come again, to tell me that the unit is 1 & 1/2 units low on freon (which is really low), and that I needed to have some added, and the pipe sealed, because of a slow leak.

I asked why wasn't this done on the first visit, as I specifically asked them to check it, and was reassured that it was without any issue. If it had a "slow" leak it would have been leaking when they came the first time. I can never get a clear answer from the service tech. He acted like he was in a huge hurry, and was very dismissive of my concerns and questions.

In all honesty, if he spent 3 or 4 minutes answering all of my questions, they mostly likely would be installing a new HVAC unit at my residence, but because of this experience, I will try to wait until next year, and hire someone that actually wants to be here, and not act as if they are forced. Also, when you go to pay. they add 3% "convenience charge" for paying with a credit card, which isn't the best of business practices.

I called CHF yesterday morning to help me with a plumbing issue. I was desperate after the five companies I called previously could not make it out same-day. CHF sent someone out not just same day but within a few hours! The guy (I forget your name, sorry man!) was great. He came, diagnosed the issue, got the parts, fixed my problem and left the bathroom cleaner than he found it in no time flat.

He was polite, courteous, knowledgable, and professional (despite my dog freaking out about an unattended stranger in the house.) Great service by the receptionist/admin. Great service by the plumber. Great price. I will absolutely be calling CHF again when I have plumbing or HVAC work.

Hired them a few weeks ago during a heat wave when my AC broke. They were able to come the next morning, arrived right in the middle of their estimated time, quickly assessed the problem, had the part in their truck, and replaced it to completely fix my AC in less than an hour! Total cost less than $300, which I thought was great, though their initial visit fee is quite high for the area ($135) I trust them since my air has been working perfectly ever since! I found my HVAC people for South Philly!

CHF provides excellent service with experienced and courteous technicians. I called to establish a service contract for my HVAC system--they were here within the week, called when they were on the way, were punctual, extremely courteous and efficient. I will look to use them for any and all of the my mechanical service needs.

Make CHF your GO-TO HVAC guys. CHF installed my HVAC units a few summers ago - they quoted a very fair price and completed a no-issues installation, including getting a compressor on top of a roof without a crane. When I scheduled them to come out to check multiple units in my condominium association on the day after the election, no one called or showed up during the 9a-12p appointment window until a technician left me a voicemail closer to 1 PM while I was in a meeting.

In a follow-up appointment, the owner's son came to the building and was as pleasant, informed, and professional as a homeowner could want. We talked about the costs and benefits of various air filter options and and he dissected a neighbor's unit choked with cat hair - that was bound to have problems this winter. I will continue to do business with CHF after friends in the Center City One condominium association recommended them a few summers ago. You should make them your GO-TO HVAC guys as well.

Polite, professional, timely and reasonably priced. Don't pay more for uniforms, shiny trucks and fancy clipboards. They're good about accepting credit cards, emailing receipts and staying in touch with coupons and service announcements by email. Good company, feels like help from an experienced neighbor.

They came to look at my HVAC. They were within their time windows, courteous and professional. They methodically evaluated my HVAC. They communicated the problem, the solution and the cost in an easy to understand manner. They could have gouged me for a repair but instead offered a solution that I could easily handle.

I've used them to do maintance on my condo unit for probably 10+ years now. They have always been very responsive and have provided what I feel is fair pricing. Even when it's an area they don't cover, they have a network of other professionals that they recommend, so they or their network can accomplish most everything I've needed. I'd highly recommend them.
