Truth be told, service is the most difficult part of the heating business. This is in part due to the fact that problems can change from minute to minute and that our customers are generally unhappy to begin with (because the heating system isn't working and it is freezing cold outside). We conducted a survey in 1994 and found that only about 1 out of 100,000 people actually planned for the eventuality of having no heat in the winter (or AC in the summer) in home or business, so don't feel bad if you didn't see the problem coming.
Earlier, ductless heat pumps were mostly used in the commercial properties. They have also been very popular in Asia and Europe for years. However, over the past several years, tens of thousands of ductless heat pumps have been installed in homes across the United States. Jack was our repair person, handys arrival window was between 1 - 3, he called at 245 stating his current job was taking too long, he was sorry and was very polite on the phone. It didn't matter he was going to be late, we needed the service call, no matter what time. When he got to our home, I opened the best door for him to enter and access our basement.

He started to walk in the house with his work boots on, I asked him to either remove his boots or wear booties as we have new carpets. He was annoyed that I asked this of him. Things went downhill from there. He asked where is the best place to access the basement, I said this way. Then he asked very gruffly where the basement was I pointed and walked him downstairs to where the furnace was.

Once the job was finished, I was letting him know that we needed two invoices to appease the insurance company. He dismissively waived his hand at me and said I got this. He asked for 2 copies to be made, I was reading what I was going to copy, he said I haven't got all day and I don't have time for this! I have another call after this one.

I told him there was no need to be so rude, especially in my home and you are doing work for us. Jack you have no customer service skills and it appears that the work and paperwork is too difficult for you to handle, maybe you should be in the office answering phones, since you can keep the conversation civil. If we ever have handys back at our home, you won't be the technician - I'd rather call another company than deal with you again! You are an angry, frustrated person!

I would have thought that they would have returned my call when I had an issue with the soapstone woodstove they installed. Price tag was a little over $7000 and the thermostat on the woodstove has stopped functioning in its first year. I Services: A/C system maintenance, Heating system installation

Handy's Heating in Mount Vernon has been truly exceptional in the product they sell, the installation and the service is also exceptional! I had estimates from two other companies and their price was the lowest AND they offer the same 10 years warranty on parts AND labor as one of the other companies said no other company offered! We had Handys come out to give a quote for a four zone mini split system to cover 900 square feet to include a family room, and three small bedrooms. The cost for an easy install was quoted as 14900. This includes tax. We didn't want anything fancy. We wanted three small wall units and a 12000btu in family room. This price did not include wifi or smart capabilities.

Also this price didn't include ceiling cassettes which are usually more expensive. This was the price for a very simple install 14900 Including tax for one unit that would cover four zones. Each zone was located next to each other so there wasn't any long lengthy lines to run.

They did a great job helping me through the process of selecting a new furnace. The technicians are very good and did a great job installing my new furnace. They even fixed some issues with the previous ducting. The price was a great value and most importantly my new furnace is working great.

We had Jesse come out to work on our tankless hot water heater & he was great. We had a leak in it that was dripping. We had no idea if could even be fixed. He examined it & said it was a small repair. He gave us price & when he was done it was exactly what he told us. He could have told us it had to be completely replaced & we never would known. He was very polite, he took his time to explain everything, & he made my wife feel included. I would highly recommend asking for him.

My rental house needed heat pump work, tenants recommended them so first call 129$ to diagnose issue- fine., my 2 ton split mitsubishi was low on refrigerant - that should be done on spot by technician, did bother to call me, 3 weeks pasted, me calling / emailing. finely guy came fill the refrigerant and add stop leak, did not look for source of it, according to tenants he was their for 1h 15 min. again did not call me. 2 weeks later called them as I never received invoice for the job. next day their its 890 DOLLARS! with no explanation of how much time or any parts used. my system if its empty take 3lbs of r134a ( 30 lbs tank cost 200 bucks ).so I called, got now where with accounting lady, Tammy -owner was rude, told me gas its very expensive sir. and its what it is. only person sympathetic and had time to lessen to me was service manager. endup getting 200 $ off, but im NOT a HAPPY costumer

Our technician Jack Mueller was great! Very professional and personable. He was able to temporarily fix our Empire gas wall heater while we waited for a replacement part to arrive. My fireplace had gone out so I was in the market for a new one. I did some shopping around and Handys Heating was the only one that offered to come out and do an in home estimate for free. The wait time for installation ended up tripling after I decided to purchase from them. Not the fault of HH, but the distributor (because of Covid, so I understood). However, with this being my only source of heat, and it being December, the extra wait time became a problem for me. HH was extremely accommodating and we were able to find a comparable one they had in stock and they worked with me on the extra pricing.

Every step of the process, everyone was extremely helpful, knowledgable, and accommodating. I would absolutely reccomend this establishment. Thank you to everyone at Handy's Heating for helping me out!

A huge kudos to CHRIS, recent new hire at Handy's Heating! We have had numerous problems with our new furnace that was installed around March 2019, and often went without heat for a few days at a time. After a chilly weekend, CHRIS restored our heat yesterday, and was by far the most knowledgeable repair person we have met. (He had owned his own furnace company in CO before moving to WA.) He diagnosed and repaired the furnace, and switched out the thermostat for a better one.

He also resolved an ongoing problem we have had with never receiving enough heat in our master bathroom, which is the farthest room from the furnace. For the first time, the temperature in that room is now over 64 degrees! He increased something within the furnace that sends out more power/heat than was going out before. Thank you CHRIS so much for that.

This past year we had paid for a house inspector and a duct cleaner, thinking that one of them might figure out why that room did not get heat. We added more insulation around the crawlspace ducts, but that didn't solve the problem. We had resorted to using space heaters - those shouldn't be needed anymore because of CHRIS. Lastly, Chris proactively noticed that our gas fireplace was missing some ember-looking material that is usually added to this type of fireplace.

He added the missing material and, wow, what a beautiful difference it makes. I'm keeping fingers crossed and am very hopeful that we won't be needing to call Handy's anymore except for routine maintenance. And I will always ask for CHRIS! Our family will have a cozy Thanksgiving tomorrow. And today I am very thankful for CHRIS!

Wish it could be lower. NOT RECOMMENDED. Two moths ago, we scheduled a routine natural gas furnace service / maintenance. It was scheduled to tomorrow (11/28/17) as the earliest they could assure a service date. Tonight "Sharon" called and left V/M. They need to reschedule. Perhaps understandable. They need to reschedule (drum roll) to APRIL. I have used Handy's in the past with good service. My how things have changed. :( Never again.

Simply outstanding. In the last year and a half we've engaged Handy Heating to do a furnace conversion/replacement in an older mobile home; to replace a failed water heater in that same mobile home, and to perform a much-needed natural gas furnace inspection and parts replacement in our primary town home. In each instance, they were competitive, courteous, responsive, and competent. Based on our experience, we both trust and recommend them. Great people!

I've called Handy's a couple times to schedule yearly maintenance on my furnace/heat pump only to be told it was a 5-week lead time for "non-emergency" type appointments and that "no-heat" situations took priority. I get that. But 5 weeks out? I guess they only pay attention to the high tickets cost items before they consider it important. Called Foss Heating and had an appointment within 3 day and now a new customer for them.

They installed my entire heating system, hot water heater, wood burning fire place and exhaust ducting. They back up their work and stand behind the products they sell like no company I've ever encountered. I would highly recommend using this company based on their customer service alone and have recommended them to many family family/friends with like reviews from all of them.

I have very high expectations when it comes to quality and customer service they exceeded both. All of this install was over 8 years ago and they are still standing behind their product.

Handy's Heating came highly recommended after we moved into our new home and found ourselves in need of a new heating system. After our experience, we have no idea why people think so well of them. We spent more than $10K on a heat pump (with AC capability) and furnace. Shortly before the install date, they recommended a newly available, updated system that they thought would be even better for us, no extra charge. Installation was supposed to take about a day and a half.

So far, so good. But then. Installation took two long days. And getting the system to work correctly has now stretched over more than two weeks and five or six visits by Handy's technicians, who apparently are learning about the updated system at our considerable inconvenience. According to the explanations we've heard from them, connections weren't made correctly with the initial install, necessitating one or two more visits.

Our third(!) thermostat is about to be installed, because apparently none of the thermostats they previously installed were appropriate for this system. THIS one, we were told just today, is the one they've been waiting for, newly arrived directly from the system manufacturer. The others were just stop-gaps Handy's was installing in hopes one of them would work okay until the good one came. We've found pools of water on the garage floor around the base of the furnace multiple times, and every technician has a different idea about what's causing it and apparently has been unable to correct it.

They keep re-doing each other's re-work. At this point, we must have met most or all of Handy's technicians, and they have been unfailingly pleasant and polite. Some of them seem exceptionally committed to customer service, with one even calling late in the evening to say he'd been worried about leaving something on that shouldn't be a problem, but just in case, would we mind if he stopped by to shut it off so he could sleep that night? We really appreciated that. I don't know what to think. Except that I don't think I could recommend Handy's to anyone based on this experience.

My parents had a water heater they were wanting replaced. They contacted the company (which they used successfully in the past for other issues) requesting after hours visit due to work schedule. Was told by the receptionist it would be overtime charge of $150/hour. Also was told that they would have to send technician to come assess the situation before ordering any parts/equipment. Sounded fair.

Here is where it's all downhill: 1) They sent their senior technician who arrived 2 hours late.at 8 pm. No calls to let them know. Parents thought he just wasn't coming. 2) he took a look and confirmed a new water tank and other minor plumbing work would have to be done. Made lots of notes and left 3) dad called the next day to confirm that the new water tank and parts were on order. Receptionist informed him that it was their policy that they would need to send out their estimator (for additional charges) to AGAIN take a look for a proper quote.

Complete BS! If it is their policy, they should clearly let the customer know ahead of time. It is clear that they have it set up to take advantage of customers and incur as much money. Foss Heating ended up doing the work. Their technician came out, assessed the situation and provided a formal quote before leaving. No multiple visits required. Final thought: Handy Heating doesn't seem to have a streamlined professional process in place. Buyer beware! If you don't ask ALL the right questions, you may just get taken advantage!

Last Sunday our gas furnace pooped out, and after a quick little bit of research I selected Handy's Heating to come out and take a look. One reason I chose them is that they are a Cascade Natural Gas Trade Ally, which means work done by them qualifies for various rebates. Since we thought we might have to replace the furnace, this seemed like an important factor.

We had to wait a few days for service (it's the time of year when everybody discovers their furnaces aren't working), but it was worth it! The repairman arrived, and had everything taken care of in about 30 minutes. Diagnosis and repair - he even had the circuit board for our model of 13 year old furnace on board in his truck! I highly recommend their services, and we will definitely call them back in the future if needs be.
