AC went out on Sunday night. Helms HVAC had John at my house the next day. He determined the issue and ordered the part. Shelly was able to "squeeze" our repair in on top of an already busy Tuesday and my house was cool by early evening. Helm's is a great company but it's because of the customer service they provide. I highly recommend them.

Our Technician Makenzi was awesome throughout the service call. Call 30 minutes out, introduced herself, explained what the service call was for and what work she would be doing. Communicated very well throughout the process as she moved around the house. Excellent overview once the work was completed. She is well versed on the service packages and extended warranties offered by Helms. Mackenzi cover all topics and answered all our question. An exemplary service call to be sure. A shout out to Shelly for her internal support during the call. Great job to all.

Very professional, very good in explaining things offered to top off the freon but I declined. I'm not using the AC very often I like it better on the warmer side. Makanzie was very nice and she definitely knows her job. Would recommend this family business. Cleaned the AC unit with a cleaning solution and rinse with water very professional.

Josh came to my house for a maintenance check and like all Helms workers I have met, he was polite and explained things thoroughly. When I called Helms Heating & Air, I talked to Shelly. She was very pleasant and professional. She addressed my reason for calling and I was able to talk to the person I needed to talk with. Michael is my "go to technician"! I can depend on Michael to be on time. If for some reason he is delayed, he always calls to let me know. He handles any issue we might have with our system.

He is thorough and checks our unit completely. I am very pleased with his work and dedication. Thank you Shelly and Michael. You are two of the reasons that I use Helms Heating & Air!

Everyone at Helms is polite and the customer service is A1. Josh came to my home to service my vents, he was on time and very polite. He even put the covers over his boots to protect my carpet without me asking him to do so. It's the little details for me that go a long way. As long as I have an HVAC system I will use Helms. Dealt with them regarding a warranty issue, they're very responsive and most importantly show up when they say they will. ( a lot of trades don't) my only issue was they had to make two trips to diagnose something. I told them my furnace shuts down whenever is drops below 30 but comes on when the temperature outside rises. They diagnosed it first as a dirty filter even tho I had changed them two months ago.

But I said you know what there's a lot of construction in the area so I guess it's possible. The gentleman (very nice great with customer service) but seemed like he wasn't really interested in finding out if there was an issue and just went with the low hanging fruit. Second guy came out listened to what I suggested and found the issue. I think they should work on training. But I do understand in this market labor constrains are killing everyone. overall great experience tho just giving healthy criticism.

My heating system (installed 2007 by another firm which was later merged into a larger regional outfit) abruptly stopped working on a very frosty night. I misdiagnosed the problem as a failed thermostat and contacted Helms seeking a replacement. Arianne responded to my chat request very promptly (during a holiday week no less!) and after patiently working through a differential diagnostic logic proposed it was probably not the thermostat but rather a switch or safety interlock mechanism.

And so it was. Problem solved, for a not-yet customer, at no cost! You can guess who I'll be calling for any HVAC problems I encounter in the future. Thanks Arianne and Helms!

Mackenzie came to do a beginning of the season check on our heating system. She found several gas leaks and a malfunctioning pressure switch. John came out the same day and put a new regulator on (where the gas leaks were coming from) and the new pressure switch is on order. Best part is everything is under warranty! Update: the new part arrived. We were given a time frame that Jhovani C would be out to install it.

He called and told us he was on the way during that time frame. Got the new part installed quickly and efficiently. Thank you for great service and a job well done! We are very pleased with your entire team!

They are prompt and have very respectful employees from the office all the way to the techs Would not use anyone else. If I could give more then 5 stars I would. Helms put in a NEW AC unit in our NEW home in February. On our first call we needed freon because it wasn't charged properly. Today on our second call we were greeted with poor service and told we need a compressor. That they don't have. It's 91 degrees tomorrow and I'm 5 months pregnant. I feel like this is a sick joke. Noone has told me when it will be fixed.

And the tech giavonni slashed my hose a million times looking for a leak? Jamie the service manager finally returned my calls and wasn't much help. He assured me they would fix it but couldn't tell me what time. Only that the office would be in touch with me tomorrow. Arianne at the office was rude and unprofessional. When I told her I am 5 months pregnant and need AC she didn't care and treated me like a number.

She even argued with me about when she was going to call Jamie. I am very disappointed and am advising Stanley Martin to use alternative business in the future. I would like a completely new AC system installed as this one seems to be a lemon. Hell, maybe they are all lemons?

Helms does not have parts to fix new AC units installed in NEW homes and do not charge the freon correctly. Jamie the service manager Arianne the on call person and giavonni have yet to give me a solution to. the problem. I am 5 months pregnant with no AC. our compressor went out and all I can get is the office will call me tomorrow. my repair is covered under warranty yet there is no employee or part to complete the repair. great.

I'm mad, I'm sad, and I'm very HOT. I'm crying hoping I don't lose my baby from over heating. The negligence this company so graciously avoids creating a risk management plan for is baffling. I predict the continue to bite off more then they can chew and make empty promises. only time will tell?

Tech came out today (6/3/21) to replace a capacitor on the brand new unit they installed two years ago. Stated that the capacitor was under warranty, then charged me $250. Tech was in and out in 20 minutes. Also refused to level the exterior unit when I expressed my concerns that it could potentially interfere with functionality of the unit. I. felt like he took advantage of me because I'm a woman and was in a hot house with my kids. Still can't understand how much that warranty capacitor could possibly be, or how any reputable business could justify an hourly rate of $750 for labor only. Beware.

Just had my HVAC unit serviced this week by Chris Bryant. He was fully equipped with PPE attire for Covid safety precautions, which was great. He was quick yet efficient. Great customer service! Thank you! My only reason for giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because my scheduled time frame was between 10-12, Chris showed up close to 1. While this is not unusual with these type of appointments, I appreciate a courtesy phone call when service providers are running behind and just don't assume that the customer has nothing better to do than sit around and wait for an open ended window of time.

Unfortunately for Helms, they don't seem to reach out to the people who are writing bad reviews, which is why they are rated so low. Let me 1st acknowledge that this review has nothing to do with the technician named Michael, who came to my home the 1st & 3rd time. He was professional & knowledgable. I do feel the 2nd technician was knowledgable. but didn't implement his own professional recommendation.

This review has to do with the company itself. Let me explain. We have been in our new build since April 2019. Last winter was milder than this years so this is the 1st time I turned the upstairs zone on. We had no heat so we called Helms, who installed it, & they came out & the technician, .

The office responded to my calls promptly and knowledgeably answered my questions. They also worked with my schedule to complete the work efficiently and as I requested. Jhovani accurately diagnosed the problems with my air conditioning. The upstairs bedrooms are the most comfortable they have been since I moved here. He & his coworker were so clean, I would not have known they were here except for the invoice & cooler living space. Thank you to a marvelous team!!

I am not a customer of Helms Heating & Air Conditioning Inc; I am their victim. I live in a condo in Lake Park, the HVAC unit in the condo above me was replaced by them. When they replaced it they messed up the drain line (which runs through the wall to a communal drainpipe in the wall behind my pantry.) Because they did not bother to check where the drainpipe upstairs went, they cut the pipe too short and my condo hallway was flooded, and my wood flooring damaged.

I reported this to the owner of the unit, and they sent Helms to check it out. They paid to have my flooring replaced ($625) and fixed the drainpipe. About a week after that I noticed water leaking again and subsequently found out that the drainpipe coming out of my HVAC unit was snapped off. I believe that happened when they came in to fix the drainpipe for the unit above.

I called Helms, they looked and determined that it was not their fault. I then called my own HVAC company which I have used for 20 years and they said it probably happened when Helms made the fix. They also determined that the best way to fix this problem and have some type of warranty was to replace the air handler. I did this and paid the $5700.

I then sent the information to Helms and thought they should at least split the cost with me since my HVAC unit had been inspected the day before this whole series of events started. Chris Helms called me and basically said they felt they had no responsibility for the cost to fix my HVAC. Bottomline beware of doing business with Helms Heating & Air Conditioning Inc, their installers do a less than professional job, and they don't stand behind their work.

I had Helms on a service plan for approx. 5 years and had Helms install a new upstairs unit. Approx. 4 months after install, a leak was found in the drain. This caused water damage to the house. Helms indicated the leak was a result of a plugged drain and not their fault. I terminated the relationship because they refused to take blame or compensate me for the damage.

I hired a new well known local HVAC expert. New service found the drain incorrectly installed and not even sealed. The drain pipe was redone, cleaned, and sealed. So, in some cases Helms used existing equipment rather than replace it with new materials. The new service also found the wires to the new thermostat were not installed correctly. I had issues during the service plan.

A capacitor was replaced in the same unit 3 times. The wrong sized capacitor was installed the first 2 times. It took my own work to realize their errors and had them install the right size. Almost every inspection (spring and fall) resulted in something needing repair. I originally assumed these repairs were needed, but I now question the need (and additional cost).

I have been using Helms for years. I have a service contract with them, so twice a year I get my heat pump tuned up. Michael has been my tech for the past few years and he is great! I always get a call letting me know he is on the way, or if there is a delay when I can expect him. He is very respectful, he explains what he's doing and why, and makes suggestions to help keep my system running smoothly. I would highly recommend Helms!

Our AC, which was very old, stopped working during one of the hottest weeks of the summer we also had a newborn at home, Helms was 1 of 3 companies that we received quotes from before replacing the unit. They provided us with a detailed description of each product line along with comparisons in pricing and efficiency. This allowed us to make the best decision for our purchase.

The Helms team was respectful, non invasive during the installation, and they were able to get the unit installed a week earlier than they originally thought! I would highly recommend this company for your HVAC needs.

Helms installed my original HVAC system when my house was built over a decade ago. When my heating went out, we gave them the first call. They sent a technician out who assured us that the blower motor had failed and that on top of the $95 service we owed for his presence, it was going to be another $1100 to fix the blower motor. To double check pricing, we called a few other HVAC Companies, all of whom confirmed that $1100 was way too expensive for the part + labor. Finally, we had a new company come out who quoted $600 to replace the blower motor (plus another diagnostic fee) only to find out that a switch had been tripped during the last cold snap and nothing actually needed to be replaced at all.

Not only did Helms try to overcharge me, they completely misdiagnosed it from the beginning. I'm relieved that we got a second opinion, but I'm still miffed that we were forced to pay Helms the $95 for such a terrible waste of time and money.

What's on my mind! Many many of you know this company and have dealt with this company. Do not use Helms Heating and Air conditioning! Here's the story of interested! We purchased a used home and Helms installed the unit about 3 years ago only to find out it was poorly installed and it caused the unit to slowly leak freon and burn up the unit.

So my husband called Helms and Chris Helms the owner called and said he was not going to come out and give us a second opinion or look at the unit or give us anything for free and we could take our business elsewhere. Wow! I have never heard of a business behaving like this. So we called Bryant out of Marshville and they are doing our repairs. Unfortunately we are having to pay for something that should be corrected by Helms due to their poor workmanship. Do not use this company. Chris Helms does not back his work and made my husband feel like a thief and a lier. It's a small town Chris Helms!

Will be the last time I use their service. I made appt. for the hours 1-3 pm. I called them at 3pm after a 11 min hold the person told me I had wait for another call. When I got that call they said it will be 5pm.2hour delayed. I called back and ask for some kind of compensation for the wait. Then I received a called from the supervisor and there was nothing they could do for me. I pray the tech will be here in 15 min.

The air conditioning in my house was installed by Helms HVAC when it was built 18 years ago. 1. Within 7 years, the compressor had to be completely replaced even though it was serviced multiple times. $3500 to fix. 2. The Freon lines leaked to the point where, starting with the second year, I had to replace it each year. After about 9 years, someone found a way to seal the leaks. $600 to fix. 3.

They installed non-insulated ductwork on the main floor on my house. After about 10 years, moisture started condensing on the ductwork and caused major stains, some of which dripped onto my floors. Cost to repair - $3000. Contacted owner, Chris Helms. He stated that was code at the time in Fort Mill - and well, tough luck! Every other AC guy that looked at it said "I can't believe they got away with this!"

DO NOT USE HELMS! So I bought a brand new townhome in March 2011 and the first winter in this new townhome the HVAC broke. So I called KB homes and they sent out Helms who installed the system. Took them over a week and five visits before they were able to fix it. Then in the summer my AC stopped working and once again I called KB homes who sent out Helms.

They "fixed" it again and then in November 2012 my hvac broke again (this time it was the portion of the HVAC in the attic). Called KB and sent out Helms to "fix" it since it was still under warranty. Now it's October 2013 and my ac is leaking condensation around the vent in my entry hall. So not only is something once again wrong with the unit now I have water damage to my ceiling because of this.

I called KB and they can't help me due to my warranty with them being over the 2 year date. So I called Helms.since they installed the unit and obviously there is something wrong with this unit.but they told me that I would have to pay them to come out and do the "service" call even though I've explained that the unit itself is a dud and they have already been to my house over 8 times to fix the unit in a little over two years.

The unit and my townhome were brand new so why am I having all these problems with a "new" unit. I will never use them again and I recommend that any one thinking of using them should think twice.
