I recently moved to the area from Harrisburg and Marx Sheet Metal had an ad on indeed.com looking for a NON CDL Box truck driver so i submitted an application and the manager Mike got back to me very quickly. He said he was looking for a driver to make deliveries and do some warehouse work. He sounded eager to hire me because of my years of experience and knowledge.

He basically had me under the impression that I'd get the job if the interview went well. I showed up the next day 10 minutes early, dressed business casual in a button down shirt with jeans and a jacket. I'm a 40 year old man with wife and children at home and live very close to the facility which would be good since the job has different start times very early in the morning.

So during the interview Mike explained to me about the job and where I'd be delivering to and he expressed that he wasn't pleased with another employee which wasn't my business nor did it have anything to do with me. He explained to me about the companies good benefits and how I'd like working for the company. His demeanor changed once he realized I was African American.

I think he was under the impression that I was Caucasian but once meeting in person at the end of the interview I knew he felt different because he said give me a few days and I'll get back to you. If that's not discrimination then I don't know what the definition is because clearly this guy who's a manager at the company has some racial bias towards people of color and I'm going to forward this information about my experience to the department of labor and EEOC because it's just totally deplorable that people still act like this in 2022. I'd say beware of this company if you're a person of color as the manager is a racist.

Great union shop the place could fabricate anything needed sheet metal wise. The place has at its disposal a fleet of tractor trailer to haul the material made in the shop right to the job site. To include a command center and tool trucks full of all the tools needed to complete any job.
