The highest efficiency they quoted was 17 seer in 3 tons. Cost on that equipment is $5,300.00 without tax. Add tax, add the additional items, it ends up costing around $6,500.00. They want $13,500.00 so they will profit around $7,000.00. I do NOT recommend any company that uses this sort of predatory pricing.

I cannot recommend Smart Air highly enough! Aside from some initial difficulty getting the ball rolling, they've impressed us at every step of the process! We had a lot of work done. We recently bought and moved into a house. Our original a/c unit was located downstairs in an area that was too small and the whole setup just wasn't to code (and the second floor wasn't getting any air circulation).

We ended up having the a/c unit totally replaced and having the setup relocated to the attic. Ambrose and Shane was super professional and knowledgable, and the quotes Shane sent us were very detailed. That being said, Shane and Ambrose hopped on a quick call with us to talk through the options and help us figure out which would be best for us given cost, etc.

The a/c work was done by Ross and Darren, and they were also extremely professional! Cleanliness is super important to me, and going into the week of work, I had resigned myself to just living in a giant mess and being uncomfortable for the week. I was SO pleasantly surprised though! Every day, Ross and Darren laid down mats and tarp and stuff first thing before beginning work and at the end of each day, they vacuumed and cleaned up behind themselves. It's clear that our experience was phenomenal! Thanks Smart Air!

I have been a Smart Air customer since Shane started his business. Over the years, I have been fortunate that I never had a real emergency. My luck ran out recently! What happened was not a serious emergency but a major inconvenience. I planned a trip to see my one and a half year old grandson in Richmond, Va. He was born just as COVID arrived so I had never visited him in person.

The afternoon before my departure, the AC stopped working. My extra large dog would be inside most of the time while I was gone. I could not leave my dog in the house without AC. Smart Air was booked up until the next day. I was going to cancel my trip. After hearing the reason for my trip, Smart Air was able to work me in that evening. I really appreciate this personal service!

Smart Air Service was amazing! I had a system that wasn't cooling properly and they fixed it quickly and professionally. I'd had a bad experience with a prior company and from the first call to Smart they were courteous, helpful, and honest. Both Hope and Nicole were great on the office side and Eris was fantastic at my house. She deftly diagnosed the problem, located the parts and, in the same day, I have cool air again. I understand they have to charge for labor costs and service fees but I was charged $318 for someone to simply put a thermostat on my wall. The smart thermostat wouldn't even connect to the WiFi at the house before he left. He was professional and nice, but we were charged for a "high-rise" installation fee. When I called they said the tech typed in the wrong information but that fee would be applied anyway. We were already running the A/C by hot-wiring it, we would've been better off just ordering a thermostat online and putting it on ourselves.

I still feel ripped off by this company after all this time. June 2020, they sent out a tech. He seemed to know what he was doing fixed the 4 year old AC and left. It was hot as hell all night-STILL BROKEN, called next morn, came back did another repair for more money. Left again, still STILL BROKEN. Came back again, still not fixed! They offered to send him out again and we said NO! they sent someone else that was not guessing at fixing it.

We spent $2079.00 dollars to get our 4 year old AC fixed by Smart Air. NEVER again! The owner called me after we expressed unhappiness and said he would look into something and call me back. He did not, I called the a few days later and left a message and never heard from them again. BEWARE! Time has made me angrier than I was then.

I am so impressed with the team at Smart Air Conditioning and Heating. I was so pleased with my initial assistance with my HVAC unit that I signed up for their annual program for both my HVAC units. They are super responsive that really sold me. During the crazy 2021 snow blizzard I had serious HVAC problems and I had to contact them 4 times and they used facetime video calls to help me with my issues remotely and then scheduled me for the first day they could actually drive again after the snow. My service technician Derek was a total life saver as we were having 0 degree weather and he was able to get me running again. I highly recommend!

I was thoroughly impressed with their Sales Team. After having 3 different HVAC companies we chose Smart Air hands down for their professional assessment, clear strategy for a replacement, transparency in price and responsiveness to follow up. The only negative remark is the 3rd party financing options were too strict/stringent even after getting co-signer with a 800+ credit score - we were still denied financing (we recently purchased a 10 yo home and the home warranty refused to replace the unit in 107+ degree weather).

Even though we didn't get an installation with Smart Air, we will definitely consider them for our small business needs and professional needs in the near future. Our impressions and expectations have been elevated to such a degree that when dealing with other companies, I already know the competitors will lack the professional courtesy, competency and integrity we received from Smart Air.

Our furnace stopped working overnight. I called Smart Air first thing Saturday morning. They returned my call promptly and sent out a friendly and very knowledgeable tech. The tech diagnosed the problem quickly and got our furnace up and running again. Their knowledgeable, friendly and prompt service is VERY appreciated on this VERY cold day!

Our furnace had a gas leak. We had Texas Gas out to confirm the leak and they shut off the valve, as expected. I called Smart Air based on a neighbor's recommendation. I asked what it'd cost to get the problem diagnosed (and said up front it was a gas leak) and I was told $99. Tech shows up, is very nice, and is masked. Bonus. After some time, I'm told the leak has been found, and the replacement part will cost me $17, so my total bill will come out to. $500!? Tech goes on to explain that the equipment to find gas leaks is very expensive and they have to spay a special solution to prove they've found the leak.

Let me stop here to tell you the special solution is soapy water. Anyone who has ever worked with gas knows this. Back to the story. I tell the tech I was told it'd be $99 and the tech responds that they had already called their manager and had confirmed I was not told about the extra fee. Wait. Hold up. You just happened to call your manager after you were done with the work, before you told me about the bill to see if they told me about one of the fees? Hmm. Ok. Sounds legit. Well, since the manager confirmed I didn't get told it'd cost me $400 to find a leak, and another $100 to fix it, he could do me a solid, and bring the whole bill down to a low low price of $312.

At this point, I'm out the $100 "show up at your door and do nothing fee", and I'm doubting that I'll save much money by calling another company. I tell them to get it done. Tech leaves because they don't have the part, comes back and finishes. At the end of the work, the tech confirms that the pipe fitting from the exterior of unit to interior was loose, and they tightened it. ($312 for a loose pipe).

I don't normally like working on gas lines, but I'm thinking at this point I've made a horrible mistake. Whatever. While they were in there, they noticed a capacitor is leaking oil, but they checked the voltage and everything checks out. No need for concern. 8 hours later, I get an email. They consulted with a colleague and I really need to replace that capacitor they told me was ok right away. It'll only cost me $160 and $50 for a return visit fee.

A return visit fee to fix a problem that wasn't offered to be fixed while they were here, and that 8 hours earlier I was told was fine and didn't need to be addressed. Oh, but good news! For only $420 I can join a maintenance plan and they'll fix the capacitor for free! Do yourself a favor. Call someone else.

Ever feel like you've been taken advantage of? On a July Friday morning, my A/C suddenly stopped working and I knew I needed to act before the weekend work slow-down. My long-standing A/C man moved out of town so I went to Yelp and chose Smart Air since they are located close to my home. The serviceman was out within an hour or two and quickly diagnosed and replaced a bad capacitor on the outdoor compressor.

He then took a few minutes to crawl up in the attic to give the air handler a look-see. All was fine. Unfortunately the bill was $350, which I thought was high, but still promptly paid. My follow-up email inquiry about the cost of the capacitor part was never returned. Subsequent internet searches revealed that the part usually runs between $10 and $30.

So labor and overhead for approximately 20 minutes of work came out to about $330! My old A/C man later said that I got ripped off. I called the manager about the exorbitant price and his answer was basically "A deal's a deal". So if you like overpaying for A/C services and taken advantage of in a crisis, Smart Air is the company for you!

AC goes out Saturday night, Labor Day weekend. I can tell it's the condenser fan motor that has finally given up after 16 years. I get to work calling companies that claim 24 hour service, armed with my naive diagnosis of the problem with the specs of the motor to make sure they have a tech that either has access to one quickly, or one on the truck.

I called all the big names that you see commercials for, they all use answering services, nobody can answer my questions, I have to wait for a handful of drivers to call me, only to not commit to having the part and wanting to do an inspection first, or saying they won't have access to one until Tuesday These guys however. they had a legitimate employee to talk to, he called his tech to verify he had the part, then worked with me on the perfect time for both of us to get this done.

I felt respected as a customer because they didn't just blow me off, they committed to getting this resolved based off what I told them. Frank came out and was polite and had it fixed very quickly. No secrets about price, everything was explained and signed off on by me before they began working. Definitely recommend.

Shane the owner of Smart Air is always prompt in responding and takes an interest in his customers. Always attentive, always responsive and hires great staff like Derek who recently came by to unclog my line. Smart Air installed my new system and I continually go to them for ongoing maintenance. Smart Air is a local Austin company and for $16 a month they will come out twice a year to make sure everything is working great, thereby avoiding any potential costly repairs with proactive maintenance. Really glad I gave them a call after a long fruitless chase of the warranty company. Scheduling was a breeze, I had scheduled multiple work items as I needed both AC units worked on. I got to meet more than one of the team and they are all super professional and very knowledgeable. Tim came by first to estimate the work and he was very knowledgeable and clear about what is needed versus optional and everything across multiple work items was explained very well so I feel confident about the work.

They got the parts needed quickly and my AC was brought back to life! All work was performed quickly and on time and I will not hesitate to recommend them to everyone and will definitely call them if anything is needed.

So, I called these guys because they were really responsive the last time I needed them. My AC unit went out last night and it was going to be another scorcher today. I couldn't leave my wife and two toddlers to suffer. Technician got to my house at 9:40am (which is awesome considering I called them at 7am - worth 2 stars at least). It took him 30 minutes to diagnose and fix the problem (capacitor in outside unit).

He was gone in 35 minutes start to finish. The final bill was $350. Service Fee - $99 (just to get him there) Capacitor - ~$20 (most are cheaper but I went higher to give them the benefit of the doubt. I doubt they used a branded replacement). So, I guess the extra $240 was labor cost? So, $480 an hour for labor? I am happy to change my review if any of you HVAC enthusiasts tell me this is reasonable. EDIT: Adding a star for exceptional customer service as the Owner / Manager did call me to understand my frustrations.

He explained to me that his labor rates have to account for significant overhead (insurance, continuous training, etc) and that the HVAC industry, in general, suffers from poor margins. He also pointed out that I did not take into account travel times in my calculations above (which is true). Let's just call it an hour of work total including the drive time. EDIT 2: I would also add that the technician did all the work described above without first saying, "Hey, I found your problem. The $20 capacitor is broken. The cost to replace it is $240 more than the $99 service fee. It will take 5 minutes. Would you like me to proceed?"

Shane- I have no reason to lie. The dispatcher clearly said the technician would call me back to schedule and that he didn't see why you guys shouldn't be able to make it out, that you guys "weren't that busy". Just own your mistakes.

They were able to put in a new Air Conditioner for me when I moved into my house almost 4 years ago. It's been running great ever since without issues. I had compared prices with one other company at the time and found there prices to be competitive. They were also very professional and they were able to get the new unit installed pretty quickly to (think it was within 2 weeks of calling them), which I really appreciated at the time.

The were very careful about not making and messes in the house, like dirtying the carpet or dinging walls while putting very big, heavy unit upstairs. They also gave me a free estimate on cost to replace the ductwork and I felt they were honest and the price was better than I expected for such a big job. So hope to still get that done as I had a 15 year smoker in the house prior. Highly recommend them.

This company has worked to fix and now maintain our old HVAC system in a house we recently purchased. The previous owner allegedly had been having the system "serviced" by a hack job company for the past couple years, and Smart Air Service has come to the rescue and fixed all the problems that this previous company let develop over the years. We hope to keep this current HVAC system as long as we can, and are thankful for Smart Air Service!

Matt (service technician - whom I have worked with TWICE now) AND Jessica (in the front office and for billing) are just terrific. I have found them to be straight forward, solid communicators - both on making appointments and doing what they say they are going to do - and being on time when they say they are. This is all a testament to their reliability. Matt is super thorough (as he methodically goes about checking all aspects of your system - merely in an effort to head off any future issues) and in his explanations of his findings and in making recommendations for future consideration. I highly recommend Smart Air Service. We called around the holidays for a last-minute servicing for our HVAC unit prior to selling our house and had wonderful, quick service. When our invoice came, it was for a bit more than anticipated, so I emailed and immediately received a response. The appointment was coded incorrectly as a reoccurring service versus a one-time service, which they were extremely apologetic for and refunded the difference.

They also sent someone the next day to fix two items they had noted on the original call for no charge at all. It's so nice to have great people to help, especially when you're in a crunch! I will use them for life!

Fantastic service from quote to scheduling to the actual work. Smart Air replaced a builder grade exhaust fan in our master bath with a larger, more quiet fan. I bought the fan (Panasonic Whisper Quiet) and Smart Air came out and did a free quote for installation within 24-48 hours. Quote was very reasonable and less than a few others. The original fan had a 3" vent, so they had to increase the vent size to meet the new fan dimensions (4" venting) and do some cutting out of the existing ceiling drywall.

The work was excellent and they cleaned up their work and threw away all of the old materials. Shane reached out to me after the job and was very appreciative of using their services. I have not used them yet for AC/Heat related issues, but will definitely use them again!

SmartAir really stands by their products and warranty. During an annual inspection for my heating/ac unit, I was told (by a competitor of SmartAir) that I needed ductwork repair received an $8,500.00 estimate to repair/replace it. I called SmartAir back and discussed my concerns with Shane, the owner. He didn't hesitate to come out to my house and assess the problem.

After he was finished, he informed me that his company would complete all of the work for nothing. His repair crew were out at my house within a week and fixed the entire problem. SmartAir truly stands behind their products and service. Thank you so much!!!

I had Matt out at my house to do a Spring maintenance on my AC system. He is a great technician and so kind to my house and system. If you have time you should call them to schedule your maintenance too before it gets too hot! I talked to Jeanne in the office to schedule and she was super helpful. Also the very next day I received a detailed receipt thanking me for my business. This is my first house so all this maintenance stuff is new to me, so I'm glad I have a company I can trust. Imagine a date night on the horizon (which for parents of two daughters means shipping them off to my mom's, with us staying home and making dinner together) only to learn the AC is on the outs. That's right, 90 degrees, inside. Date night in doubt. That's where Smart Air stepped in. A couple of calls with Jeff, who was manning the phones, and Matt (the tech) was onsite to fix the problem and save the day (evening).

i could go on and on about their courtesy, professionalism and responsiveness, but suffice to say, I will call them again should issues arise.

Matt (service technician - whom I have worked with TWICE now) AND Jessica (in the front office and for billing) are just terrific. I have found them to be straight forward, solid communicators - both on making appointments and doing what they say they are going to do - and being on time when they say they are. This is all a testament to their reliability.
Matt is super thorough (as he methodically goes about checking all aspects of your system - merely in an effort to head off any future issues) and in his explanations of his findings and in making recommendations for future consideration. I was having A/C issues and had a different A/C company come out and they took a half hearted look at my system and said all was "OK"... (they were paid for by Allied Home Warranty which I do NOT recommend). I called Smart Air and the service tech "Christopher" came to my house and provided me with a thorough check of my system and found several issues that he fixed for me.

He also took the time to educate me about my system and let me know ways that I could increase the efficiency of my system. It's not often that you can find such great customer service these days but this company sure provides it. I also got several calls from Jeannie in the office to ensure that my appointment was lined up and all was good to go. I am very happy with this company and will call them again if my A/C needs work again.

We chose Smart Air after getting about 6 other quotes for replacing our aging AC system. Shane was great. He gave us a bid with several options and we were able to choose the best option that fit our budget. As a homeowner I had a lot of questions and he was always willing to answer all of them. His crew came in and they were very nice and worked hard to get the job done pretty quickly. We have battled with a non-functioning A/C for the last 2 days and when our agent is taking too long on responding, we decided to take it into our own hands to get it repaired ASAP. I went on Yelp and found Smart Air. My bf called on a Sunday and within a few hours, Matt G. came in person to diagnose. We really wanted the A/C fixed ASAP because the next day would be Labor Day.

He gave us an estimate and told us that he was going to search for the fan blade if it was available locally and fortunately he did. He worked until 8:30PM and got our unit up and running that same day! Our total cost was even lower than what was quoted. Matt was friendly, accommodating and did an excellent job.
