Walter Mork

We had Mork install a heat pump and they never configured it correctly, or provided manuals for the equipment. Repeated phone calls over five months have been ignored.

Delighted with the Service of the Walter Mork Co.! The very personable, 3rd Generation with the company, Berkeley Choat, came out to give us an idea of the cost of Cental Heating, to replace old Floor Furnaces in a 1920's duplex. He quoted a reasonable price, then miraculously "Flew in, as if with Superman Cape, " to save our Tenants from a Very Cold Christmas! (*A delay in another job had resulted in ours being pushed forward, just as our need was indeed dire!)

I hired Walter Mork Heating to install a furnace in my 1920's home. They were quick to respond, had good ideas about positioning and very accommodating to my schedule and circumstances. It was not a straight forward job due to age and condition of the house. They made it all work. Terrific crew of three got the job done very smoothly on schedule.

Customer service on phone in taking the order; the in person review of what was needed to be done; a clear and concise bid quickly followed and scheduled and then work of crew was all excellent. A Follow up walk through was done and they initiated some adjustments and explained the system well so that I understood what I needed to do to keep things going. Exceptional work and work ethic. A rare find these days. Just in time for a winter chill.

Walter Mork fixed our gas furnace flue in a timely fashion and for a reasonable price. They were professional and great to work with. I have every confidence recommending them to others and have, many times on another platform, but just realized I hadn't reviewed on Yelp. I was reminded to, by someone I recommended them to a few months ago who just reached out to thank me (she's very happy, said they did a fabulous, big job on her 1920's home that had no heat before). These are big expenses and it is reassuring to have reliable businesses, and I love it when businesses I recommend work out for others as well. Thank you Mork!

It doesn't matter if you have a gaint project or just a home project, You will get first class service. I've tried others in the area.

They did a wonderful welding job on my old kitchen table legs. It's lasted 6* years. Efficient and reasonably priced.

After returning home after a long weekend away, we found our furnace system was no longer working. We called Walter Mork to obtain an estimate, and they quickly sent someone out the next day. The estimate was reasonable and they were able to clearly explain our options for replacement and the associated costs. Even better, they were able to replace the furnace system by the end of the week.

We worked with Berkeley Choate, who was prompt with following up with our questions and scheduling our installation. With a newborn baby, it was a relief to have such fast and helpful service. Thank you!

Horrible customer service. I called to find a part a normal hardware store wouldn't carry and they had it in stock. However, for some crazy reason they close at 3pm and it was 2:45. I told the lady who answered the phone I was on the way And would just barely make it. I arrive to find them closed at 2:59. As a specialty parts supplier, they really left me hanging as a customer in need, all because some employee couldn't wait to run out the door at quitting time. I understand they technically close at 3, but come on, I literally called and she knew I was on the way rushing over.

I requested them to look at some louvers that had started to rust really bad. The original lovers was installed over 35 years ago and we need them to match due to the building was design be a famous architect. When Walter Mork Company installed the louvers I could not believe my eyes, I could not tell them from the original. This was a job well done C. From gutters to custom fabrication. I bring in a drawing, they make it right. Friendly family like staff, they've been around for over 100 years. No complaints. Never had an issue.

We had a slight carbon monoxide leak on our old floor furnace & PG&E suggested that we install a draft diverter. They shut off the gas valve until we could get it repaired. After 2 weeks of searching for this part, I was sent to "Walter Mork" as I could not buy this part anywhere. They manufactured the part for me. Then our handyman said he could not come to install it as he felt due to the Corona virus, he could not leave his house.

Since this was our only heating source (& it was cold and we were using the oven for heat) I called Walter Mork to see if they could install it. Understandably they were making very limited technician calls because of the Pandemic. Berkeley Choate sent his very competent technician Mike Hudley. He was amazing & of course practiced "social distancing" while installing this part.

We are eternally grateful to Mike, Berkeley & Fiona for giving us our heat source back. They were all very professional but yet it was apparent that "Customer service" is alive and well and it is their priority! We will recommend this company with 5 stars!

Walter Mork got our ancient wall furnace up and running again when the competition insisted we needed a full replacement. Yay! We will definitely be looking at them next time we have furnace issues, and when we are ready for new, they will be on the top of the list. The install required a return visit or I'd give them 5 stars, overall very happy here!

It is always a successful search when I need sheet metal products from Walter Mork. I have been a customer for the last 45 years. True craftsmen.

In the past I have used the services of mork time and time again. Now younger mork has decided to put customer service on the back burner. When I last tried to have work done there, I see that the shop is tired, as is the office and management. I gladly took my work to a shop where they gladly looked at the project and arranged an appointment to expedite the work. I can't recommend mork anymore and young mork needs to adjust his management mindset. Thumbs down for mork.

I've gone to Walter Mork over the years for odds and ends of metal fabrication and this year I hired them to install new central heating in my home. All my experiences have been positive and all work has been very fairly priced. They did a great job on the heating and it was a pleasure to deal with them!

Walter Mork Co. is the best in quality, service, and pricing. I've used their shop in the past for metal fabrication, and recently hired them to replace my unsafe floor furnace with central heating. They are great to work with and I couldn't be happier with my new heating system!

I picked up some HVAC duct supplies here. They are well organized and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely return.

These guys are the real deal. It's a multi generation family owned metal shop. They have done custom sheet metal, stainless steel and welded work for me for years. But the happiest they made me was when they replaced my old furnace with a new zoned heat and air conditioning setup. I am now officially ready for global warming. It's great.

And it's such a relief to deal directly with smart, experienced pros who don't have a bunch of brochures and sales pitches. They just focus on your job and figure out how to do it really well. Great staff. Great field techs.

I have a rental property in Berkley where I needed an HVAC repair made. I asked them to have the technician call me from the site so that I could approve repairs (because I am out of state). I never received a call, and I called them numerous times for the following days and weeks. Every time I called, someone would answer and ask me to hold, and every time I sat on hold for 4 or 5 minutes before I gave up and hung up.

Then nearly a month later a received a bill for service. Again I called and was put on hold indefinitely. I would have paid them immediately had they called form the site as requested, and I have made numerous attempts to contact them for clarification on what was done. They don't seem to care to leave people on hold and forget about them.

We decided to replace our bathroom countertop with zinc. We bought an antique sink from The Sink Factory and created a wooden base for the sheet metal with holes for the sink and our existing Grohe fixtures. We sent the project out for bid and Walter Mork promised the most for the least. No other fabricator offered zinc sheet metal as thick. And we were delighted with the results.

The workmanship was very precise. The counter top is lustrous and very strong. We used two products from Rotometals in San Leandro to enhance and preserve its beauty: Zinc Sheet Cupric Sulfate and EverClear 2 Part Solvent Urethane Resin respectively. We used Cupric Sulfate to tarnish it slightly and the EverClear to prevent additional staining.

These guys are amazing! I had a very specific order to customize my guitar pedalboard to attach metal sheets for power supplies. Fiona was very helpful - I went over and did some rough sketches and got it built and attached according to specs for a reasonable price.

Don't go if you're a small fish. They care about big accounts and that's it. I ordered a project, they forgot about it. When I complained they acted like it was my problem. "Do you want it or not" the owner Mork said to me. Will never go again.

May be they can do good or bad work, my best guess: you will never know. First impressions is that they are extremely informal, we spent almost two hours going over the work that needed to be done with Berkeley Choate. He took notes, gave some ideas and committed to deliver an estimate in a week's time. Aparently Berkeley Choate went on vacations, then came back.

After repeated calls he finally sent out an email apologizing about the delays and committed to deliver the estimate. Nothing. He stopped answering emails, he stopped answering calls and when we called the office the lady that answers the phone said that they have a lot of complaints about the informality of Mr. Berkeley Choate. The last time we called the Walter Mork office the lady said that the estimate would be delivered at the end of the same day.

Nothing happened. Obviously, there is no one accountable in that office. At the end, we wasted our time, don't waste yours. I can only imagine what would be the response of Walter Mork if you had any problems with the work they do. Cheers

Good god! This idiot can not drive, we watched him cut off a car and almost caused an accident in front of us and then he cut us off and we almost crashed! He clearly needs driving lessons!

Five stars vs. two or less? What gives? As an independent contractor for 30+ years, I have experienced a full spectrum of interactions with suppliers and make this observation without hesitation: everyone looks good until there is a problem/misunderstanding and at that point you learn what an individual are made of. That is the essence of my experience with the owner: Dismissive, evasive, feckless and mean in the face of a legitimate complaint. Oh, what was that rumbling in the office just yesterday when he retorted at the drop-of-a-hat, and I quote: "I've just had about enough from you!", it was the sound of his great-grandfather rolling over in his grave.

We have worked with Walter Mork Company for over eight years and have always been thrilled with their service. Unfortunately, with the recent management change the way the company conducts business changed as well. Many experienced and skilled employees left the company and the leadership has really dropped the ball. No longer are they responsive and professional, we wait for a week to have an appointment scheduled only to have no tech show up. Quotes are inaccurate, invoices that follow are much higher than the quotes.

In cases where there is a small problem with a quick fix, we are told that the entire heater needs to be replaced, requiring unnecessary expenditures. Example: they installed a heater in one of our units and they did such a poor job that the place for changing the filter is inaccessible. It took us over two months to have the problem fixed. Even then this all was shrugged off by the manager as no big deal.

When we tried to escalate this problem to the owner, we were sent back to the very people who are creating these problems and overcharging us for service. It's really difficult to extricate ourselves from Walter Mork while our heaters are under warranty, so we continue to fall victim to how they operate. There are many other reputable and honest heating companies in the area. Do yourself a favor, avoid Walter Mork and go elsewhere.

Not happy about this one. To summarize: no written estimate, too busy to send a repair technician so an installer was sent who could not fix the problem even with the new parts in hand, the tech was summoned to complete the job and I was charged for all the time of both men. Oh, and I was promised a selection of new thermostats. The installer produced a used thermostat in the box of another product which he offered to install.

I ended up going to Ace hardware for a new thermostat which the real tech installed. Not professional. Not good. And the furnace has failed to go on twice since. Once on Christmas. And, no, it was not because I bought the thermostat. It was because they did not repair the furnace correctly.
