SEER stands for seasonal energy efficiency ratio. It applies only to air conditioning, and it is basically a ratio of BTU's gained per watt of electric current used. Units with higher SEER ratings don't necessarily blow colder air, but do use less electricity. The present minimum SEER standard is 13.
